A downloadable game for Windows

Touhou fangame made for Touhou Fan Game Jam 8. Cirno finds herself on an island where her friends don't recognize her, everyone's acting weird, and she's constantly melting.

This is really more like a proof of concept and/or the beginning of a longer thing  vs. a complete experience. If you've done the broom quest, you've done it all. But, who knows? Maybe you'll find narrative fulfillment in sweeping the floor.

As a heads up, the (lack of) transition between the dark menu and light backgrounds can be sort of jarring, and I didn't have time to sort it out before the deadline.

Features:

  • adventure game with light RPG/survival elements
  • three (3) discrete Touhou characters to interact with
  • a few odd jobs to complete
  • crafting that involves slamming two objects together with no guidance and hoping for the best
  • general melting ice cream sort of vibe
  • graphics at different low resolutions coexisting in perfect visual harmony
  • I even did music this time lol

Credits:

  • pontifus: art, text, music/sound, rpgmaker stuff

More credits:

  • Touhou Project: ZUN/Team Shanghai Alice
  • RMMZ plugins: VisuStella Team, Galv, MechPen
  • Some cc0 or royalty free audio clips; some SFX come from a kronbits asset pack
  • Font: Tentown by ChevyRay
  •  Color palette based on Grape Soda by Braquen

cute game. would like to see it when it's finished.

2 things though:
- got an error message when life went down to 0: "TypeError - Cannot read property 'graphic' of undefined'

- when i started i first thought the thermometer would increase when staying in hot areas and i'd lose health when it gets too hot. because the graphic looked like it depicted low temperature. can be a bit confusing at first. so my suggestion: change it so it looks like its hot (thermometer bar up high) and lower it the higher the "cool" value of the equipment is to show the reduced heat effect of the equipment.

First thing is probably an error related to exporting the game in rpgmaker--good to know that's happening.

The second thing, yeah, I can see how it would be confusing. The thermometer shows the relative heat/hp loss speed of the area you're in, but there's only one level of heat in this jam version, so basically it's irrelevant other than showing you when you're safe.

Thanks for playing and pointing this stuff out.

The game has such a cool vibe! The concept is great too! I would love if this game is expanded further!
